*In Person* ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

8:30am - 4:30pm

The most common question that comes after safeTALK training is…. well what happens next? ASIST happens next.

For those people who want to be able to complete a suicide intervention from start to finish, ASIST is the training for you! Often times, organizations will designate a number of ASIST trained “experts” within the workplace to serve as the go-to once the majority of the team has been ASIST trained. This combination provides a fail proof strategy to protect against the tragedy of suicide in the workplace.

ASIST is the gold standard in suicide prevention training and is a hands on two-day training (12 hours) that is made up of lectures, activities, videos and comprehensive practice allowing participants to feel like “experts” in the topic of suicide. For more information, visit

*Virtual* Skilled Suicide Intervention

9am - 4pm

Every day an average of 10 Canadians a day are lost to suicide. Do you know how to recognize the signs and symptoms that someone is thinking about suicide? Or how to intervene? Unfortunately, most people don’t. Our one day 8-hour online certificate course changes that!

Our Skilled Suicide Intervention will teach you to be able to recognize potential signs and symptoms of suicidal ideation, how to ask someone if they are suicidal, and how to successfully intervene with an emphasis on safety.

This virtual certificate course will also explore best practices in suicide interventions, myths and facts about suicide, and teach you how to connect with appropriate resources and supports. We'll close with a focus on mindful self-care for the helper post-intervention.

This certificate course was created by mental health clinicians - Carolyn Plater MSW, RSW and Stephanie Kersta MSc, RP – post-secondary educators, creators of the Mindfulness in Modern Society certification at McMaster University, published researchers, and co-founders of Hoame modern meditation studio.

This program is delivered by trained mental health clinicians with support and guest features from other professionals.
